The Webster Teachers Association (WTA), WTA CARES, and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) partnered with Webster Central School District and Webster Central PTSA to give away 40,000 FREE children’s books to students, educators, and classrooms during WTA’s Fall Into Reading Festival, held earlier this year. The book giveaway was made possible by a grant from AFT and First Book.
WTA’s Fall Into Reading Festival took place on November 4 at the Webster Thomas High School Field House. The event was open to all area families who were invited to select up to 10 FREE books per child for home libraries, with a 30 book maximum limit per family. Additionally, educators and school staff members were permitted to choose up to 50 FREE books for their classrooms.
No one went home empty handed as approximately 40,000 books were given away!
The festival also featured food trucks, visits from Webster CSD school mascots, an opportunity to explore a fire truck, and other enjoyable family activities.
