Students Explore the Night Sky in the StarLab

Students at each of the elementary schools and at the middle school had the opportunity to experience the StarLab this October. First grade students learned about the sun’s pattern across the sky, gazed at the stars in the night sky, and even had a chance to make fun shadow puppets! Fifth grade students focused on patterns of the sun during different seasons, as well as the patterns of day and night; explored how a star’s distance from the earth varied its brightness; and learned about how the appearance of constellations vary due to earth’s position and motion during different seasons. The StarLab has been utilized by Churchville-Chili classes for well over a decade, thanks to a collaboration with BOCES 4 Science.
