The Class of 2026 began their freshman year with a formal orientation to Churchville-Chili’s Ninth Grade Academy, followed by a tour of the high school and an informal meet and greet with Link Leaders. The school’s Link Leaders, volunteer juniors and seniors who work with freshmen during the transition year to help them find success, have become an integral part of this move to high school. The program began in 2016 with the goal to help freshmen find their passions, connect with others and get involved in school activities. Group leaders facilitate Get to Know You discussions, answer questions, and act as mentors throughout the year. This year’s 55 Link Leaders, who signed up for the program last spring, said they had great groups and enjoyed getting to know the freshmen.
The Link Leader Program has proven to be a vital tool for helping our ninth graders feel a sense of belonging as they discover their new educational environment. As the school year progresses, Link Leaders will continue to guide and support their group members.
