On Feb. 6, the Holley High School Student Council (HSSC) was recognized by the American Red Cross for continuing to hold blood drives in 2020, despite the pandemic. Holley Middle School/High School (MS/HS) is number one in the region for having the most successful blood donation drives and conducting the best-run donor events overall.
“The HSSC has a long history of supporting the American Red Cross with blood drives,” said Holley Superintendent of Schools Brian Bartalo. “It was even more important to do this during the COVID-19 crisis – step up and support their need when the blood supply was dangerously low. We had very successful and safe blood drives in 2020.”
The HSSC was recognized for conducting six blood drives and collecting 79 pints of blood, which will help save 237 lives. HSSC Advisor Jim Di Sessa, MS/HS Principal Susan Cory and HSSC President Callie Updike accepted the award at the ceremony in Batavia. Thank you to all the volunteers and donors who participated in these events.
