OBJECTIVE
The “Community Champion for Public Education” celebration recognizes local businesses, organizations, and community leaders who serve as exceptional supporters of our local public schools and students.
Criteria for a Community Champion Honoree
Demonstrates ongoing dedication to the success of our preK-12 students and the betterment of local public schools through partnership, support, and service. Examples may include: providing career exploration opportunities; volunteering in schools; serving on boards, committees or advisories; sponsoring academic clubs or events; serving as a guest speaker or panelist; mentoring; etc.
Serves as a role model in the community and is committed to lifelong learning.
Inspires support for quality public schools through action and word.
Submission Process
Representatives from public school districts in the ACT for Education coalition are asked to select one business or community organization or individual volunteer (unaffiliated with an organization) that supports their district’s students through partnership and programming. All submissions must be submitted online by Friday, March 28 using the form below.
Timeline
Week of February 10: Submission portal opens. Identify the business, organization or community organization that your district wants to recognize.
March 28: Portal closes. Submit your honoree’s information by Friday, March 28, 2025.
Weeks of April 7 & 14: Honorees are notified via letter from ACT for Education to attend the Community Champions for Public Education Celebration. Please have your district representatives mark their calendars and plan to attend the Community Champions for Public Education Celebration on Friday, May 2 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Paychex Junior Achievement Discovery Center, Kodak Center, 200 W. Ridge Rd. You are encouraged to ask your honoree to save the date as well.
Please RSVP on behalf of your district (multiple attendees are welcome) by Wednesday, April 23 using our RSVP form.
End of April/early May: 2025 honorees are announced via press release and on ACT for Education’s social media. Honorees will receive a congratulatory letter from ACT for Education and will be listed on the ACT for Education website.
May 2: Recognition of honorees at the Community Champions for Public Education Celebration at the Paychex Junior Achievement Discovery Center from 7:30-9:00 a.m. (co-presented by ACT for Education and Junior Achievement). Breakfast and networking will occur from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and the awards ceremony will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.
