The annual Veterans Day assembly at Holley Elementary School on Nov. 9 featured patriotic music, veterans and lots of red, white and blue. A group of local veterans from the American Legion and VFW posted and retired the colors to begin and end the assembly. Many local veterans were in attendance, representing the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and National Guard. The Elementary Chorus sang while the Elementary Band played the “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The Chorus also sang “God Bless the USA” and “Thank You, Soldiers.” The Band played “God Bless America.” Kindergarteners sang “Flag Song.”
Students led the assembly. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boys Scouts recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Julianna Thomas and Cooper Wolf emceed the event, with Cooper explaining the 100thAnniversary of Armistice Day. Third graders in Tricia Draper’s class recited poems. Natalie Foose read her Veterans Day poem. Pre-K students presented handmade thank you signs to a veteran.
