High school students had the unique opportunity to experience a live performance by award-winning theatre company PUSH Physical Theatre and then participate in a series of dance workshops. PUSH’s Artistic Director Darren Stevenson led the workshops, introducing dancers to exercises that encouraged them to improvise using their own unique life experiences, and to explore the mechanics and emotional power of movement. They responded with enthusiasm.
“It was great learning experience,” said dancer Grace Hunt. “I loved learning new ways to express emotions through my movement and choreography.” Student Erin Kuhn said, “I loved his encouraging message and being exposed to a different kind of dance.”
The Dance Program at Churchville-Chili High School is a collaboration between the Departments of Fine Arts and Health, Physical Education & Athletics.
