March Was Full of Music at Holley

Students in grades 4-12 performed in two concerts to highlight March as Music in Our Schools Month. The District Choral Groups performed the evening of March 15 in the MS/HS Auditorium, with students in grades 4-12 performing the song “Oye!” together. The District Concert Bands performed the evening of March 20. The High School Concert Band performed “All Glory Told” and “Bandology,” which were songs they performed in a national band competition in Annapolis in late March.

The Elementary Concert Band and Chorus staged a repeat performance for the elementary students on March 23. Elementary student Ryan Clausen earned the prize of being a guest conductor of one of the Fifth and Sixth Grade Band songs. He correctly matched the list of elementary teachers to their instruments or vocal skills, and he was the only student with 100 percent accuracy in this school-wide contest.

Elementary students who performed in the All-County concerts were recognized and received pins for their participation from their music teachers.

All performances in March gave students a chance to show off the skills they’ve learned through many hours of practice. The concerts also demonstrated the musical progression these students can make throughout the years as they advance through the music program at Holley.
